Cybersecurity a growing concern amongst SMBs, finds ConnectWise

Small and medium sized businesses are willing to spend 34% more for an IT service provider who can source the right security solution, a 25% increase from 2019.

These were the findings of ConnectWise and Vanson Bourne’s recent report, Cybersecurity in an Era of Competing Priorities: The State of SMB Cybersecurity in 2021, which surveyed 700 IT and business decision makers, including 150 from the across-sectors UK.

The study also found that needs ran deeper than loyalty as and 92% would consider moving to a new MSP if offered the “right solution.” This coincides with rising rates of cybersecurity attacks with 32% of SMBs suffering an attack in the past 12 months, an increase from 25% in 2020.

Jay Ryerse, CISSP, vice president of cybersecurity initiatives for ConnectWise, said: “It is clear now more than ever that service providers need to have proactive, cybersecurity-specific conversations with their SMBs about what the right cybersecurity solutions should encompass to guard against ongoing threats.

“The research findings clearly show SMBs’ willingness to spend money to protect their data, and service providers are now at a critical crossroads to help them with this new opportunity.”
