Advantex streamlines security for low carbon energy centre

Advantex has won a contract with Vital Energi to deliver a new security and surveillance solution at AMP Clean Energy’s (AMP) new low carbon energy centre, which combines hardware from Milestone, Axis, and Hikvision creating a single, streamlined system.

The Energy Centre, which is developed and run by AMP Clean Energy, is supplying heat to Berwick’s Simpsons Malt’s Tweed Valley Maltings on a long-term agreement.

Working in partnership with Vital, Advantex has designed and supplied the integrated system, in the centre which houses electric and biomass boilers.

The system includes site-wide IP surveillance, with thermal imaging technology and real-time temperature monitoring, providing enhanced safety capabilities and security to the biomass storage areas.

Part of a five-figure investment, the setup allows AMP to monitor, manage, and maintain the site from one control room. With thermal cameras and automated temperature alerts, the system enhances safety by detecting heat fluctuations that could disrupt production or pose risks.

AMP has developed and funded the energy centre - a facility that houses electric and biomass boilers - to reduce scope 1 emissions by 80% and also deliver a solution to grid constraints. The high-voltage electric boiler will be powered by wind energy that would otherwise be wasted during excess renewable energy generation.

Steve Dobby, Account Manager at Advantex said: “Having previously collaborated on a successful project with Vital Energi, we were partners with them again on this initiative for AMP, bringing our experience in delivering challenging solutions for complex projects.”
