Giacom and Sky Business Wholesale launch broadband solution

Giacom partners will have exclusive access to Sky Business Wholesale’s new broadband solution, which was launched during a partner event at Sky’s campus on January 22nd.

The solution leverages Giacom’s easy switching to addresses challenges faced during broadband migrations including engineer visits and hardware replacements. Resellers have welcomed this easy route to Sky. 

“Easy switching will be a game changer for a lot of people because changing the old customer premises equipment out is an absolute nightmare,” said Vicki Rishbeth CTO at Focus Group. “Putting 4G failover into the hub is brilliant too, as there isn’t a cost-effective solution in the market for that currently.”

Giles Ecclestone, Sales Director at Ocean Telecom added: “Easy switching should be a real game changer for us. Changing from username password to port-based authentication is a major step forward."

Sky’s network capabilities include 100Gb capability, 55Tbps backhaul capacity, 2,800 Ethernet-enabled exchanges and 24/7 in-house management. The company is Openreach’s biggest customer and has invested heavily in the partnership.

The product will be available exclusively via Giacom’s Cloud Market portal and the provider’s All-IP Managed Service (AIMS) will provide tailored migration plans, base analysis, and order management.

This product is a key part of  Sky and Giacom’s roadmap of enabling partners to transition to a managed services and value-added offering. Stephen Hackley, MD of Sky Business Services, added that his company’s aim is to enable greater channel margins through technology alongside Giacom. “Our ambition is to progressively move up the sophistication hierarchy. We want to partner with Giacom around those next level value-added services such as security, advanced Wi-Fi and 4G backup. Those kinds of things should be brought through the channel in abundance, and it's there for us over the next and period of time.”
