VMware recruits Cisco VP to run UK&I

VMware has pulled across Jordi Ferrer from Cisco as its vice president and general manager for the UK and Ireland.

"As a proven, versatile leader, Jordi brings a wealth of experience to the role," said David Parry-Jones, vice president for Northern Europe, VMware.

ProVu seals distribution deal with DrayTek

ProVu has expanded its router portfolio following a distribution agreement with DrayTek to supply a variety of the Vigor router and firewall devices.

The deal signals ProVu's plans to bolster its router offering and follows the launch of its TR-069 router provisioning service last year.

Europe performs well in Tech Data results

Distributor Tech Data's first quarter results show that Europe still accounts for 55% of worldwide net sales and growth in the region was higher than in the Americas, at 26% compared to 15%.

Both were dwarfed by the rise in AsiaPac - at 48%, though the region has only 3% of total sales.

RedstoneConnect offloads Systems Integration and Managed Services divisions

RedstoneConnect is to sell its Systems Integration and Managed Services divisions to Excel IT Services for £21.6m.

The company said the mature nature of the markets in which these divisions operate do not have the growth potential it sees in the remaining software business, which has been a key focus area since the acquisition of Connect IB in March 2016.

Vodafone reports profit up 15.4% to 4.3bn euros

Vodafone Group has reported operating profit up 15.4% to €4.3bn on revenue down 2.2% to €46.6bn, primarily due to the de-consolidation of Vodafone Netherlands and FX movements, it says.
