Pangea has launched Pangea Protect, a mobile content filtering solution that works at the network level to set rules around what websites can be visited by users, and uses AI to govern the list of accessible and inaccessible sites. The solution also feeds data on what connectivity is being used to access.
"With today’s emphasis on all things digital, organisations make it a priority to filter their internal networks and fixed line connectivity for disparaging material," said Pangea MD Dan Cunliffe. "But beyond that, it’s often treated as an out of sight, out of mind issue.
"And there’s a growing number of harmful sites on the Internet. Some are home to dangerous content that could incriminate an organisation or harm its users. Others hold malicious software that can infect user devices – it’s estimated that at least 1% (or 18.5 million) of all websites host some form of malware.
"Up until this point, fixed line connectivity has received the lion’s share of content filtering tech innovations but today, that’s not enough. The world is becoming more and more mobile, especially in light of the pandemic; so Pangea are giving partners the tools to ensure their mobile connectivity stays secure and is used for what it’s meant for."
According to Cunliffe this makes life easier for organisations that face strict mandatory compliance regulations, like government offices, airlines, and schools.
"For them, the consequences of breaking these rules can range from huge fines to being shut down altogether, so the content filter is an essential defence," he added.
"But the tech applies to any business that needs to keep its devices and its staff safe from malicious web-based threats—which is just about every business out there."
It also doubles as a productivity tool, noted Cunliffe, as it can be used to block distractions such as social media and video streaming sites. And it’ll keep data costs and bandwidth usage down by preventing users from visiting irrelevant sites and using unnecessary applications.
"We built Pangea Protect to bring control and peace of mind to our partners," he added. "The mobile content filter is available on all the managed services we already provide, so it adds extra value and differentiation to the services that our partners receive from us."
So far Pangea have deployed the solution with on-the-move healthcare workers to protect sensitive NHS data, education providers looking to safeguard students, and private businesses who need to optimise data and boost productivity.
