The channel’s response to the Covid -19 crisis has been lauded by the independent team of judges assessing the new Channel Champions Award programme.
Submissions for Channel Champions, which recognises efforts across sales, marketing, leadership, technical and financial disciplines, have inevitably put the spotlight on how teams kept Britain communicating during the dark days of the pandemic and adapted to the massive changes enforced upon them and their customers.
Media commentator Adrian Barnard, Chair of Judges, said: “Some of the stories told in the submissions were awe inspiring and at the awards ceremony the finalists will deserve the accolades, applause and respect of their peers. After the challenges of the past year all the judges were really impressed by the commitment, hard graft and adaptability channel players have shown and keep showing 24-7, 365 days a year.”
Fellow judge James Emm, chairman of Oak Innovation, commented: “What impressed and moved me most in many of the entries was the deep consideration shown by the channel to colleagues and customers alike during such a difficult time. It made me proud to be part of this industry and UK plc as a whole.”
Barnard added: “Charles Darwin said ‘it is not the strongest of the species that survive, not the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change’. Having read such a vast quantity of quality entries, I can honestly say this industry has adapted magnificently in the face of massive change. The finalists will now assemble in the grounds of Regents University, in Regents Park London on July 1st for the awards ceremony to be staged in an open sided marque with all Covid-19 safety protocols in place.
