Colt Technology Services has signed a 25-year contract with Getlink to install its IQ Network through the Channel Tunnel.
Colt will commercialise Getlink’s Channel Tunnel optic fibre and increase its internal telecoms capacity.
The deal is set to generate a minimum of £160m for Getlink, with more than a third secured over the first five years.
Keri Gilder, CEO of Colt said: “There is a growing demand for bandwidth between the UK and mainland Europe which is expected to increase in the coming years, meaning the future potential of the Tunnel connectivity is significant.”
Yann Leriche CEO of Getlink added: “The location and reliability offered by the Tunnel makes our infrastructure attractive for high-tech developments such as fibre optics.”
