Vodafone enters into talks with Liberty Global

According to reports Vodafone has entered into talks with cable firm Liberty Global to acquire certain European assets.

US-based Liberty, which owns Virgin Media, is a TV and broadband company operating in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Vodafone and Liberty Global first entered into talks in 2015 but they came to nothing.

Distributors spur sales of business PCs

Revenues from sales of business-targeted PCs through Western Europe's largest distributors were up in Q4 2017 despite a drop in volume, according to data published by Context, the European IT market research company.

Just-published sales data shows that the Government and other public sector organisations have spent more than £3.2bn on digital, data and technology services since 2012.

Thousands of SMEs are now signed up to provide their digital, data and technology services to government and public bodies.

According to the figures £1.43 out of every £3 spent is going to SMEs.

Virgin Media Business is set to offer its enterprise customers new SD-WAN services following a partnership with Versa Networks, a provider of software-based networking and security solutions.

SD-WANs can be used to connect enterprise networks - including multiple dispersed sites and data centres - with more open and flexible hardware than traditional WAN solutions.

BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions extends partnership with Daisy

BNP Paribas is set to continue providing technology finance solutions to Daisy's 600,000 customers following an extension of their partnership.

Rising sales of softphones for general use

Sales of softphones for general use have increased significantly over the last six months, according to Splicecom, which has noted that softphones running on PCs and laptops are now entering the wider workplace in far greater numbers, spreading out from their near-exclusive use by contact centre agents and the mobile workforce.
