Zendesk expands EMEA headquarters in Dublin

Customer experience specialist Zendesk has expanded its EMEA headquarters in Dublin, which will now potentially increase its staff count from just under 300 to 500 by 2020.

The US firm's expanded site was this week opened by Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar, further illustrating the importance that the Irish government places on technology companies for the country's economy.

More than 290 employees now occupy over 58,000 square feet of office space after an investment of $10m by Zendesk, representing the company's largest investment in property outside of the US.

The company has hired 120 people over the last 12 months, and the current space can accommodate up to 500.

The Dublin office is a regional hub for product development and plays a central role in Zendesk's global business strategy.

In addition to sales and operational functions, the Dublin team spearheads Zendesk Talk and mobile products, overseeing the launch of Talk Enterprise last year, which is a core component of Zendesk's products designed to help large companies meet changing consumer expectations.

Zendesk says it is focused on hiring at all levels across the organisation, including engineering, design, sales and people operations.

Varadkar said at the opening ceremony: "Since establishing a presence in Dublin in 2012 with just two engineers, Zendesk has quickly become one of the fastest growing technology companies in the region."

Zendesk has five other offices in Europe - a large sales, marketing and customer support team in London, regional offices in Berlin and Paris, as well as engineering hubs with sales and support teams in Copenhagen and Montpellier.
