BT is extending its Digital Voice VoIP product to all full fibre and a small group of broadband customers yet to switch to the service.
Earlier in the year BT expanded the trials to a small group of customers beyond the pilots in Salisbury and Mildenhall, made up of lower usage landline customers who already had a full fibre connection.
Over the last 6 weeks, it has upgraded the last remaining eligible customers in Salisbury and Mildenhall, and around 35,000 customers in its expanded trial. In total it has around two million customers using Digital Voice.
From the summer, BT will encourage customers to make the switch to Digital Voice on a region-by-region basis. The first three regions will be the East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humberside, and Northern Ireland.
Customers in these regions will be contacted at least four weeks before being upgraded.
