Commsworld enlists charity to inspire young Scots into tech

Commsworld has partnered with educational charity SmartSTEMs, to inspire the next generation of young Scots in Renfrewshire to enter jobs in STEM industries.

This will be achieved through outreach to schools and clubs, as well as events that will be held in tertiary education establishments.

The programme kicked off at Howwood Primary School in Johnstone, which was visited by industry representatives who worked with pupils on an electric car project and climate change posters.

The partnership affirms Commsworld’s community support programme, delivered as part of its £15m contract with Renfrewshire Council.

COO Bruce Strang said: “Digital is not just about connectivity and infrastructure, it is about having a skilled workforce with the passion to deliver the science and technology we need to help us live better lives.”

Stuart Macdonald, Founder and CEO of SmartSTEMs, added: “This partnership will help us develop a model in Renfrewshire that is scalable, replicable and delivered through our intertwined initiatives of hub events and outreach.”
