Ex-BT Group Chairman Sir Michael Rake has joined the board of Huawei Technologies UK.
The former President of the Confederation of British Industry has operated as an adviser to the company since 1st January 2019.
Rake said: “The importance of good communication infrastructure has never been more vital, as the Covid-19 crisis emphasises every day.
"We are all getting used to working and communicating in different ways in these difficult times, and I look forward to working with Huawei UK again on the next generation of technology as the company extends its 20 year track record in the UK.”
Lord Browne of Madingley, independent non-executive Chairman, Huawei UK, added: “The current global crisis has demonstrated the importance of connectivity. Technology and innovation are critical to economic development.”
Victor Zhang, Huawei Vice-President, said: “Sir Michael brings a wealth of experience to our boardroom as we enter the next phase of our partnership with Britain.”
Rake is also Senior Business Adviser at the Chatham House and Chairman of the Advisory Council for Better Business.
