FluidOne ramps up with G.FAST channel launch

Network aggregator FluidOne has added G.FAST to its portfolio, offering speeds of up to 330 Mb/s download and 50 Mb/s upload via its Dash customer portal or API.

This ultrafast FTTC enhancement, which is available in two speed options, uses existing copper infrastructure and is delivered over a single phone line in the same way as FTTC.

Openreach claims that G.FAST is a quick and less disruptive way to access next generation ultrafast connectivity, which it has delivered to over one million premises so far.

FluidOne's G.FAST launch follows the introduction of Ethernet on Demand in November last year.

CEO Russell Horton (pictured) said: "G.FAST is set to transform how businesses use the Internet. G.FAST keeps us and our customers ahead of the game, delivering the fastest possible speeds over readily available and affordable copper infrastructure.

"The rollout of G.FAST is taking place in existing fibre street cabinets, boosting download speeds for those located within a short distance of the cabinets."

According to Ofcom's 2018 Connected Nations report coverage of ultrafast broadband has risen from 36% in 2017 to 50% in December 2018.
