Beecham Research met with a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam last week as part of a drive to support the development of IoT technology policies at national and international levels.
Saverio Romeo, Principal Analyst from the M2M/IoT research and analyst firm, presented to more than 20 high ranking civil servants from Vietnam specialising in high-technology, IoT and smart farming at London Metropolitan University as part of a programme of meetings and seminars with UK government departments, academia and selected companies.
"Policy makers and government organisations around the world need to deepen their understanding of the IoT and its impact on society and the economy to help realise and embrace the IoT vision," said Beecham Research's Saverio Romeo.
"Supporting public and private organisations to understand the IoT is essential in order to exploit its potential in terms of business opportunities and benefits for industries and society."
As well as engaging with governments and participating in policy-oriented initiatives, Beecham Research is also helping to drive the attention of the IoT community towards early adopters and defining the potential impact of the IoT.
"Intense educational initiatives are needed to equip decision makers and strategy developers in organisations to understand the transformative power of the IoT," added Romeo.
As part of this, Beecham Research has partnered with IoT conference specialist Vinelake for a series of conferences to discuss IoT with adopters across different sectors.
The first conference will be The Internet of Retail in February 2016 focusing on the meaning and role of IoT for retailers, followed by other conferences: The Internet of Manufacturing, The Internet of Insurance, and The Internet of Oil and Gas.
Beecham Research is also working to support wider industry communities via other conferences providers and partners.
