Comcast Business has acquired SDN and cloud platform specialist Masergy to boost its global growth serving large and mid-sized companies.
Masergy boosts Comcast Business’ cloud and network offering with its Managed SD-WAN, UCaaS, CCaaS and Managed Security solutions.
Bill Stemper (pictured), President, Comcast Business, said: “Masergy complements our portfolio of enterprise services and solutions and will allow us to amplify our growth in the global enterprise market.”
This deal creates a threatening new competitor on the global B2B telecoms scene, according to Gary Barton, Principal Enterprise Technology and Services Analyst at GlobalData.
He said: “Comcast Business has already invested more than £10.9bn since 2017 into its telecoms assets. Bringing that level of spend to Masergy will create a potent force in the global telecoms market, with strong local presence in the US and the UK.
“This is a smart acquisition as Masergy has been one of the most disruptive players in the market for more than a decade. Comcast’s significant access network assets in the US and the UK, form the ideal partner to Masergy’s global SDN network.”
