Altnet Trooli has signed £11.6m, three-year deal with Networks Centre to secure 15,000km of ultralight weight PIA fibre optic cabling.
This deal enables Trooli to increase the speed it lays its network from its current rate of 673km per quarter to 1,000km by next Spring.
Trooli plans to have connected 170,000 properties by the end of 2021, up from 100,000 currently, rising to 400,000 in 2022 and one million in 2024.
Christine McCabe, Trooli Regional Build Director, said: “Having recently secured an additional £67.5m funding, and a long-term agreement with UK Power Networks, this three-year deal consolidates our most important supply chain artery and allows us to continue the expansion of our network with confidence.”
