Channel partners operating in Derby can now offer customers full fibre services as CityFibre opens access to its ethernet network.
Andrew Wilson, Head of Wholesale for CityFibre, said: “This is hugely exciting news for our channel partners who are true champions of full fibre in their communities. This enables businesses to thrive by unlocking their digital potential and is spearheading the country’s economic recovery and long-term success.”
The news follows CityFibre’s announcement in June 2020 that it would invest £45m into a full fibre network in the city to boost productivity and drive local start-ups.
In its UK Powerhouse report, the Centre for Economics and Business Research says Derby is expected to be the fastest growing area in the East Midlands during 2021 and CityFibre hopes its network will sustain this trend over the next 15 years.
According to research from economic consultancy Regeneris, access to full fibre could unlock £39m in business productivity and innovation, while a further £21m in growth could be driven by new business start-ups.
