Commsworld nets £5.8m Glasgow City Council contract 

Edinburgh-based Commsworld has won a £5.8m contract with Glasgow City Council to provide a full fibre network to support CCTV and traffic control services across the city leveraging IoT and 5G.

Sensor-enabled automation will include noise monitoring, pollution monitoring, the measuring of footfall, building management, flood and water management..

Commsworld CEO Ricky Nicol said: “Through this network, we can build, manage and monitor a system that fully meets the 21st century needs of Glasgow’s councillors and residents.

“As a Scottish company we want to help tackle the growing digital divide between rich and poor and bring true equity to cities like Glasgow. This is especially the case during this period of jobs instability cause by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
