French digital development firm Axione has spun off a UK altnet with plans to deliver full fibre connections to four million sub-urban and rural premises.
The newly formed altnet, Axione Fibre, is supported by shareholders Bouygues Energies & Services and Vauban Infrastructure partners which have helped raise an initial £300m investment alongside third party equity partners.
Pierre Vanstoflegatte, MD of the Bouygues Construction Energies & Services Division and President of Axione, said: “The UK is a key market in the development strategy for Bouygues and in all the countries in which we operate, we want to do more to deliver essential resources to local and regional communities.
“Digital infrastructure forms the basis of this value-creating digital transformation.”
Axione Fibre will build a full fibre network and act as a wholesale-only operator partnering with ISPs, integrators, operators and channel partners to offer broadband services to end-users.
