Former Gamma Business MD Daryl Pile joins SCG as CEO

Former Gamma Business MD Daryl Pile (pictured left) has joined Southern Communications Group (SCG) as CEO in a move that sees Paul Bradford – SCG’s Chief Executive Officer since 2002 following a management buyout – double down on strategy around product innovation and future acquisitions as Executive Chairman.

Pile, who is one of the comms channel's most prominent figureheads, exited Gamma following a 21 year stint at the firm where he held several senior roles covering wholesale, dealer and public sector business units.

“To have secured someone of Daryl’s experience, credibility and standing in the comms industry is fantastic for the group," stated Bradford (pictured left). "His energy and drive are exactly what SCG requires as we continue to take the business to the next level."

Pile added: "SCG is one of the most respected businesses in our industry. Led by an outstanding management team and an accelerating growth trajectory this is a truly exciting opportunity. I cannot wait to get started and drive the next phase of SCG's journey.”

SCG began its commercial life in 1965 and today operates in the UK and South African business markets. Its core focus is within the UK where its services are supplied to SME, public, third sector and enterprise markets via a channel of over 450 partners and its own direct sales and shared service support centres.

The company employs 750-plus people across two continents servicing over 30,000 customers supported by its own SIP platform (Fuse2), Tier 2 ISP network and two hosted telephony platforms.

SCG pursues an active acquisition strategy and a notable transaction was the purchase of X-on in 2022, significantly boosting SCG’s presence in the English medical vertical underpinned by its hosted telephony platform Surgery Connect, and fast expanding into Scotland and Wales.
