Shortly after the sale of AdEPT Technology Group, Ian Fishwick is joining rural altnet Airband as Chairman.
Fishwick founded AdEPT in 2003 and spent two decades at the company before its acquisition by Wavenet earlier this year. He also brings experience from Innopsis, NETnet and Telewest.
He said: “One of the positive aspects of the pandemic was that it triggered a shift change in society’s attitude to remote working.
“For decades we have seen young families leave villages to seek employment in towns and cities. We have a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity to reverse this trend, and the provision of gigabit fibre to rural areas is the great enabler.”
Airband has raised £200m through Abrdn Infrastructure Fund and Amber’s National Digital Infrastructure Fund and has passed over 200,000 homes with fibre.
