Comms channel excitement builds for The Big Goal national finals

Excitement is growing following the draw for the finals of The Big Goal football tournament, the channel's biggest ever CSR project. Highlights of the draw, which took place at Sheffield Wednesday FC on October 9th, sees Gamma up against PXC in Group A and Wavenet set to meet Daisy Corporate Services in Group B - a fascinating pairing given the recent merger of the two businesses.

The full draw is as follows:

Group A: PXC, Elite Group, Gamma, Vorboss, Intec Group and Focus Group Utd

Group B: Firstcom, Virgin Media, Focus Group, Wavenet, BDR Group and Daisy Corporate

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of five games and will play each team in their group once. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. All games will be seven-minute halves.

The matches will take place at St George’s Park (pictured above)- the home of England football - on November 1st and the event will be filmed by Sky Sports News.

At a pre-tournament news conference, staged by Sky Business, invited guests will hear how The Big Goal is changing the lives of young people across the country via the Street Soccer Foundation academies sponsored by 33 companies from the ICT industry. Founding members will also explain the benefits of The Big Goal which has been heralded as ‘the best ready-made ESG initiative the channel has ever seen”.

Tez O’Brien, CEO at Giacom, co-founder and headline sponsor of The Big Goal commented: “The National Finals of The Big Goal is the culmination of the first year of The Big Goal and I can’t wait to present the trophy to the winning team.

“More importantly, thanks to our founding members, this initiative has helped over 450 disadvantage young people change their lives in just one year. This is a great result and it’s just the beginning.  Our aim is to double this number next year and the finals tournament at St George’s Park represents the perfect opportunity for channel leaders to see what The Big Goal is all about and the benefits it can bring from an ESG or CSR perspective.”

There still a few place left for interested company representatives to attend the finals day at St George’s Park and learn more about The Big Goal. Register at SGP Sign Up – The Big Goal
