Barnard welcomes O2's 4G roll out

O2 is about to become the UK's second mobile operator offering 4G, with services available from 29 August 2013. Initially it will compete with EE in London, Leeds and Bradford, rolling out to 10 more cities by the end of the year.

O2 says it will reach five million customers with download speeds up to five times faster than the existing 3G service.

In an interview on Sky News, Adrian Barnard, Managing Director of Modern Communications, said: "This is a huge day for O2 - only yesterday Ofcom released the spectrum and O2 is stealing a march on its competitors Vodafone and 3. In the last year alone data usage by O2 customers has doubled, so O2 really needs to invest and get these products to market to remain competitive."
