EE will retire its 3G services in Warrington during the week of 17th July, as a pilot for the company’s nationwide 3G withdrawal in early 2024.
Around 95 percent of EE customers in Warrington no longer use 3G data. Across the UK, the use of 3G on EE’s network has fallen to less than 0.6% of all downloaded data and 7% of voice traffic.
Customers using older 3G handsets will still be able to make calls and send texts over 2G as normal but will need to use Wi-Fi or move to a 4G or 5G device to access the internet on their mobile phone.
EE will contact affected customer over the coming weeks offering dedicated support to more vulnerable customers.
