Veeam acquires N2WS in $42.5m deal

Veeam's credentials as a data protection provider for AWS have been bolstered by the acquisition of N2WS in a $42.5m all cash deal.

The transaction gives Veeam access to N2WS's R&D facilities that will be leveraged to integrate IaaS data protection for AWS workloads into the Veeam Availability platform.

The deals also gives N2WS access to Veeam's network of alliances and partners.

N2WS grew revenues by 102% in 2017 and will operate as a standalone company with its existing brand name.

"As enterprises look to migrate more workloads to the public cloud, having a robust and intuitive data protection and availability solution is imperative," said Peter McKay, Co-CEO and President at Veeam.

Phil Goodwin, Research Director at IDC, observed: "IDC research shows that the majority of new application deployments will be hosted in the cloud and that cloud-related data protection is the fastest growing segment of this market.

"The acquisition of N2WS positions Veeam squarely in the thick of this rapidly growing market segment."
